Linda Dehzad, Office Manager at Prestwood
Q: How long have you been working for SVUSD?
A: 25 years
Q: What's a moment from your time at SVUSD that made you feel proud to work here?
A: There have been many moments when I’ve felt proud to be part of SVUSD. Having students come back to tell me they felt loved and safe because of our staff, and seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter, means so much to me.
I was also incredibly proud during the recent situation of the pride flag affecting our LGBTQ+ community. Watching students attend the board meeting and stand up respectfully for their rights and for what they believe in was powerful. Seeing them use their voices with courage and conviction reminded me why this work matters and reinforced how important it is to create spaces where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.
Q: Reflecting on your journey, who was a mentor or champion in your life who helped you get where you are today?
A: My dad immigrated to the United States in 1960 from Norway to create a better life for his family. Two years later, my mom and brother joined him. Once we were all here, he worked two to three jobs to support us and to provide opportunities he never had himself. His work ethic, sacrifice, and determination shaped who I am today.
My husband has been my constant cheerleader and source of strength. He has supported me through many of the hardest times in my life, always believing in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without the love, guidance, and encouragement of both of them.
Q: If you could share one piece of wisdom with our students—something you wish you had known earlier in life—what would it be?
A: Always try to find the good in people, because you never truly know what someone else is going through or what their journey has been. Lead with kindness, understanding, and compassion, and always, always believe in yourself.
Q: What's a song that always puts you in a good mood?
A: I have many favorite songs—but if I had to choose one or two—it would be: Azizam—by Ed Sheeran Your song—by Elton John Happy—by Pharrell Williams
Q: If you could have any superpower for one day, what would it be?
A: I would eliminate the judgment people face because of the color of their skin, their beliefs, or who they love, and bring freedom to countries that do not have it—so that everyone can have the freedom to live as their true selves and we can all exist together in peace.
