Public Records Requests (CPRA)
The Sonoma Valley Unified School District is committed to transparency and providing access to public records in accordance with the California Public Records Act (Government Code § 7920.000 et seq.).
How to Submit a Request
To ensure accuracy and a timely response, we encourage all requesters to submit their requests in writing. You may submit a request through the following channels:

Guidelines for Requesters
To help us find the records you are looking for, please be as specific as possible. Useful information includes:
- A clear description of the records (dates, topics, or specific departments).
- The preferred format for delivery (electronic via email or hard copies).
- Your contact information so we can reach out with clarifying questions.
Important Note on Student Records
Please note: Student records are confidential and protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). They are not available through a Public Records Act request.
What to Expect (Timeline & Fees)
- Response Time: The District will respond within 10 calendar days of receiving your request to notify you if the records exist and whether they are disclosable. In some complex cases, a 14-day extension may be required.
Fees: There is no charge to receive electronic files. If you request physical copies, a fee of $0.10 per page will apply to cover duplication costs.
