To ensure a smooth day for you and your students, please follow these "Pro-Tips" for your first assignment in Sonoma Valley:

Confirm the Details: Re-check your Frontline app for the school address, start time, and any specific teacher notes or lesson plan attachments.
Pack the Essentials: Bring a refillable water bottle, a lunch, and a "Sub Kit" (extra pens, a favorite read-aloud book, or a few simple filler activities).
Arrive Early: Aim to be in the school office 20 minutes before the bell rings. This gives you time to find parking and get oriented.
The Front Office: Introduce yourself to the Office Manager. They will provide you with:
Room keys and a staff ID/Guest badge.
The "Sub Folder" (containing the roster, seating charts, and emergency procedures).
Login info for classroom technology (if applicable).
Scan the Lesson Plan: Read through the teacher's instructions immediately. If something is unclear, ask a neighboring teacher—SVUSD staff are known for being helpful!
Write Your Name on the Board: "Hello! I am Mr./Ms. [Name], your Guest Teacher for today."
Locate the Emergency Map: Know your exit route and "duck-and-cover" spots before students arrive
Be Proactive: Follow the lesson plans as closely as possible.
Attendance: Take attendance accurately and send it to the office according to the school’s specific instructions.
Note-Taking: Keep a brief log of the day. Mention what was accomplished, any student highlights, and any behavioral issues that the teacher should know about.
Leave the Room Tidy: Ensure students have cleaned up their areas and that the teacher’s desk is organized.
The "Thank You" Note: Leave your feedback log on the desk. This is the #1 way to get "Preferred Sub" status!
Check Out: Return keys and badges to the front office and confirm if you are needed for the following day.
