  • The Mission Of Sonoma Valley High School’s Visual and Performing Arts is to educate students to shape culture and society through the practice and critical study of dance, music, theatre, film and visual arts. We assist and provide students empowerment with learning opportunities for all students that exemplify achievement, respect, creative expression and fun; that provide our students with the opportunities to collaborate and learn creative problem solving to provide cultivation of innovation and community outreach to advance our students in a pursuit of a higher learning and or a career through artistic endeavors.

  • Sonoma Valley High School students can discover, develop and then showcase their talents through our very extensive arts program. Our wide-ranging courses include: Culinary, Visual, Media, Music, Performing, Technical, Industrial & Fine Arts. Students learn the fundamentals of a trade in Wood and Metal Fabrication, the passion of performance in Drama, Band and Choir, and the pleasure of creation in Photography, Art,  3D Design, and Video Production. Our teaching staff is talented and challenges students to expand their artistic literacy and cultural and historical perspectives so students develop a life-long connection with the Arts.

    Visual & Media Arts
Students learn the creative process from conception to design to finished product in our Visual and Media Arts courses. We have the largest High School darkroom and professional Video Productions Lab north of the Golden Gate.

    Culinary Arts
The Culinary Department includes a cours on introductory level foods and nutrition course combining lectures and labs where students prepare a variety of foods and meals with an emphasis on healthy eating and the recommended dietary allowances as well as the Culinarty Arts course, designed as a school-to-work course which prepares students for entry-level positions and a continuing education in the food service industry.

    Performing Arts
In our Performing Arts courses Sonoma High students pursue musical and dramatic passions, expand artistic literacy, and gain the confidence, self-possession and poise that comes from presenting in front of a live audience.

    Industrial Arts
Sonoma High Students learn hands-on life skills in our state-of-the art culinary commercial kitchen and in our metal and wood shops. Sonoma is the only High School in the North Bay to offer courses in all three disciplines.
