Today is an A day, tomorrow B and C on Wednesday.  Thursday is A day again….we just skip the B day for Friday.  If you get confused, just call the office!  Thanks, Ms. VH

Mindful Monday- Mindfulness Break

If you find yourself getting overwhelmed, upset, or just needing to take a pause, a mindfulness break can help ease your thoughts and feelings. During a mindfulness break, you don’t need anything. It is something you can do anywhere and anytime. This is a great skill to do before a test, after an argument with a friend, or before you go to sleep. Think of it as a quick “mind reset”. We all need that sometimes! When you take a mindfulness break, you are just taking a break from everything around you. Keep electronics, books, and friends, away and just take space to yourself.

During this time, you should:

  • Sit in a comfortable position. Relax your muscles the best you can.
  • Close your eyes if it helps you focus.
  • Focus on breathing slowly. Remember to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • Don’t think about anything specific. If thoughts wander into your brain that’s okay, but just let them go. Try not to focus on anything.
  • If you get caught up in a thought, refocus on your breathing. Think of your breathing like a wave going in and out.

Now, think about a few different moments that would be helpful for you to take a mindfulness break. When and why might you need one?
