    About Suzie:
I began teaching at Adele Harrison Middle School in the spring of 2002! Before coming to Sonoma I worked as a science teacher in Eureka, CA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and my Biology teaching credential at Humboldt State University.

Before becoming a teacher I worked as a field biologist, specializing in birds. I am involved in local citizen science projects in the valley such as being a leader in the Sonoma Christmas Bird Count, and contributing to the Sonoma Breeding Bird Atlas.

I love hiking, watching and studying birds, & traveling to remote, wild places. Getting lost in the jungle is my idea of fun!

    New Science Standards:
We are teaching Next Generation Science Standards in science at AHMS. I am really excited about these changes in science education. I have posted below where science topics now are taught. NGSS is an integrated model, so we will no longer only focus on Earth Science in 6th grade, Life Science in 7th grade, and Physical Science in 8th grade. Please let me know if you have any questions about these standards.
