SVUSD Summer Programming for Elementary Students

  • SVUSD is excited to share that we are partnering with the Sonoma Boys and Girls Club (BGC) to offer a full-day summer day camp for eligible students. This program is made possible with new funding from the state of California to offer free, full-day programs during the summer to families who qualify under the state’s guidelines. The SVUSD summer partnership program will run from June 20th through July 21st, with a non-school holiday on July 4th. This is the first five weeks of the seven-week day camp opportunity offered on the BGC website. Eligible students and their families will be notified by their school with information on how to register.

This opportunity is a nine-hour program; drop off at 8:30 a.m. and pick up at 5:30 p.m. Summer Day Camp will be offered at two sites based on your child’s current grade level during the 2022-2023 school year.  Current TK-2nd graders will be located at El Verano Elementary School and the 3rd-5th grade program will be held at the Boys and Girls Club at Maxwell Park. Due to schedules and other summer school limitations, transportation to summer camps will not be provided.

BGC expects to fill up fast, so please register early. You will be asked to use this letter to confirm your status as “paid.” If you are using SVUSD free registration, please sign up for “Day Camp.” You will be offered week-to-week registration in the “day camp.” We encourage families to enroll in the SVUSD five-week summer offering. You may also sign up for all seven weeks. BGC has scholarships available for families with financial need.

If families have trouble registering for the five-week day camp program, here are a few hints:

    1. You need to select “become a member” at the start.

    2. Our summer camp is free to all students who qualified under a new state funding program called “ELOP.” Families of qualifying students will receive a letter. (Do you think you qualify and did not get a letter? See contact information at end of article here.)

    3. During the registration process choose “SVUSD INVITEE” as the payment method, and select “PAY IN FULL”.

    4. We are sending out further directions to assist families in registering.
